Jessy and Joe are Engaged!

This shoot was originally booked as a standard portrait session. Then Jessy called to tell me these would be engagement photos! I am so excited for them. I got to watch the video of Joe popping the question and it was very sweet. The wedding is just around the corner so check back for wedding pictures next month. Congratulations you two!

Cherry Blossoms

I had just a few hours to visit Nago Park and see the amazing cherry blossoms in the beginning of bloom. It's so amazing to be in Okinawa in the spring and a little odd that for some reason, spring is in early February. You won't find me complaining! I do hope to go back when I have a little more time...

Morning at the Beach

I love the beach in the morning. Photographing a great bunch of kids just makes it even better. This shoot was NOT the first time a little girl explored her love of the water while wearing her dress! It probably won't be the last either. Thanks for being "morning people" for the day!

I had a great time exploring with Jessy yesterday. She is an aspiring new photographer so we had lots of fun talking lenses and lighting techniques the whole time. And you've got to love those tattoos!

Welcome 2009!

What are you looking forward to this new year? I am challenging myself to increase and expand my level of creativity. I've always thought of creativity as something that you have along some sort of continuum and that people pretty much stay at the same point throughout their lives. I'm changing my perspective and have resolved to work on increasing creativity, not just in photography, but in other areas as well. I've been reading Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi which proposes that we can train ourselves to be more creative. This new year I want to be open to seeing beauty not only in the usual places but anywhere and everywhere.
